Hippie Status

Image
When I was a teenager I promised myself I was going to be a hippie when I grew up.  Today, I realized I've always been one.  (: These are photos of my creative endeavor on this rainy, rainy day.  The tree branch is from my Dad's house.  I'm pretty sure he thought I was crazy for dragging them home with me but I did have a bit of a plan in mind.   Below is a close-up shot of my fun suncatcher/windchime. And I already have another project started.  Hoping to find time to work on it tomorrow.

Day 49, Year 3 (779)

Dusted. Is a photo of a Swiffer duster with sun shining through it even a bit artistic or creative?  Hmmm...

Day 30, Year 3 (760)

Cracked. Ice. See what a walk in the cold can do for a bit of creative photography?  Quick walk along the Mississippi River this afternoon.  Quick because it was cold and windy and I forgot my hat at home.

Day 21, Year 3 (751)

Over the river. Seriously.  I need to come up with a plan for photo ideas.  If I have a plan it makes taking a photo a day so much easier.  I want to be back to where I was with this early last year.  Creative, strange but something new EVERY day. I did have a plan for today but with a very sick grandbaby here today I just never got it done.

Day 284 (649)

Most Creative. I know every one would like to see vacation photos but this was by far the most creative photo of my vacation.  I just shoved my camera lens into the airplane snack and this is what I got.  ha!

Day 105

Transportation   Today's photo challenge.   trans·por·ta·tion - noun :a way of traveling from one place to another place      Enough said!  ha!     Love my creative sense of humor!  (:

Day 99

a collection   Today's photo challenge.   Garbage collection.     I think it works much better than the obvious (once again).  The rock collection on the ledge in front of the house, the depression glass collection, the tea cup collection or the tea pot collection.   Creative interpretation.  ha!

Outside looking in...   This was taken by putting the camera lens on the bay window of my family room.  There are reflections of the backyard and a bit of me.  This is where I live and work.

Reflections...   Can you find my waving daughter, my hubby's arm and shoulder, the red light, the ceiling light, kitchen cabinets, sink faucet, downspout, house roof, camera and a bit of the photographer?

What could this be...   This is a 5 foot long cardboard tube my fabric comes on.  Its ripped about half way down which makes this a little more interesting.  I couldn't resist seeing what kind of photo I could get.  ha!

Archway to a Winter Wonderland...   Today Minnesota has gotten a little rain followed by sleet and then it started to snow.  Big wet flakes.  The perfect kind of snow to head out for a walk in.  ha!  I had a tough time deciding whether to just leave the color alone on this photo or change it to black and white.  There was such a subtle difference color wise but the black and white version had so much more depth. Neither version showed exactly how hard it was snowing though.

Light in the darkness...   The lights inside and out drew me to this building.  I didn't have a tripod with me so did my best to hold my camera still until the shutter closed again.  It actually turned out better than I thought it would. More than just about anything I love LIGHT.   This is the old Anoka, Mn Post Office built in 1916.  It is now home to several unique shops and a tea room.

The Witch's Hat... Stumbled across this quite by mistake today.  It took a little bit of four wheel driving to get up to the top of the hill due to MORE fresh snow overnight.  After a slippery walk up a bunch of steps and a snowy hill there was the most fabulous view of the beautiful city of Minneapolis.  This landmark is known as the "Witch's Hat".  This water tower was built in 1913 and sits in Prospect Park which is the highest natural spot in the city. With the lamp post in the foreground doesn't this remind you of Narnia -- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe?

More than a pair of pears...   Another photo inspiration while grocery shopping.  I didn't have my camera with this morning so I bought a few of these Forelle pears. So glad I took a photo at home in the sunshine.  Great light, color and shadows.   This is what I found out about these little pears. "For what they lack in size, Forelle pears make up in sweet flavor and beautiful appearance. Known as a great snacking pear."   So today, I got a great photo, a snack and hopefully taught anyone who reads this blog something new.

A Flash in the Dark...     It is snowing once again.  This has been a photo op that I've wanted to do since starting my 365Project.  Tonight the conditions were perfect.  A tad warmer, snowing and skaters on the ice.  I took about 10 photos out there tonight, this was the first one.  By accident my flash was on but the effect was pretty cool.

Snow, light, shadow...     After what seems like months of bitter cold weather we had a minor warm up tonight.  It went from 12 below zero this morning to 8 degrees above zero at dinner time.  With this slight warm up it started to snow -- pretty, big, fluffy snow flakes.  I love all the shadows being created by the spotlight and the way the snow glitters. And yes I do know that the months of bitter cold was actually only a few days.

The Blue Barn...   Oh how I love barns!  Some of my favorite memories are connected with my grandparent's  barn. And I would love to own a property with a barn more than anything. This one would make the best workshop for my hubby's woodworking.  There could be a corner for me to learn to weld.  And maybe there would even be enough space for my current business.  If you enlarge this photo there is a little blue tricycle, a birdhouse, a bucket of tools, snow shovel, watering can, window and a chair. This little hobby farm is for sale but I couldn't tell you a thing about the house or the rest of the property because I was so enamored with this little blue barn.

Wishing for Spring...     The snowflakes were so huge today.  I know this isn't the most creative photo and I am getting tired of taking photos of my backyard but I truly hate going out in this kind of weather.  These flower pots are waiting for spring so they can be filled with bright, pretty flowers.  I'm also waiting for spring so I can work in my yard and see what new things will be growing.

(click to enlarge) It takes a village... This is another of my MANY collections.  For some reason I found my header caption totally funny.  I'm not sure why but I laughed for quite awhile about it.  I am always concerned that my whacked sense of humor will get in the way of a good photo. Or a good description of a good photo. When in reality it should enhance ANY photo I take and any story I tell.
