 Weird IS good!

While digging for "retro" jewelry (70's stuff of my mine), my daughters came across this delightful item.  My oldest daughter, Mandi did this as an elementary project.  They showed me the cover(shown below) when they found it but I didn't look at the instead.

Earlier this week Mandi told me what was written inside.  When she told me "Weird" was on the list it totally made my day, my life. (: This is proof positive of being a successful mother.   

Being weird comes fairly easy to me and to my children but to have one of them state in writing this is a top ten reason I should be mom of the year, wow!   Success!

Oh and I love the hair, big glasses and plaid flannel shirt!  Just lovely.  Proof positive of my weirdness! ha!

Hippie Potions and Lotions

Fun day today.  The past several days have been spent getting things done before we leave for Florida.  My business is the most organized it has ever been.  This morning I cleared my custom order board and mailed out all pending orders.  Late this morning I headed for the kitchen and created some wo nderful lotions. The pretty peppermint jars contain "Peppermint Perfection", a luscious hand balm that has a heavenly peppermint scent. The "Green Stuff" is a boo-boo salve.  It works great on cuts, burns, very dry skin and it stops bug bites from itching. And the pretty lotion in the middle is "Mara's Magical Moisturizer" which I created for my granddaughter to help relieve some of her dry skin caused by eczema.  This is a new and improved version.  I am hoping this will work even better than the last batch. Not in this photo is the body wash I made.  Super rich and its wonderful smell is peppermint and sweet orange. The fun

The Witch's Hat... Stumbled across this quite by mistake today.  It took a little bit of four wheel driving to get up to the top of the hill due to MORE fresh snow overnight.  After a slippery walk up a bunch of steps and a snowy hill there was the most fabulous view of the beautiful city of Minneapolis.  This landmark is known as the "Witch's Hat".  This water tower was built in 1913 and sits in Prospect Park which is the highest natural spot in the city. With the lamp post in the foreground doesn't this remind you of Narnia -- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe?

This is my great grandfather Frederick Wilhelm Gustav Engel.   This is one of my favorite photos of Grandpa Gus.  There is something so familiar about him.  Is it just because we belong to each other? The pocket watch was handed down oldest son to oldest son.  When my uncle died my cousins gave it to my Dad who turned around and gave it to me. It took me almost two years to figure out what to do with the watch. But with the help of my hubby making this custom shadow box I have the perfect place for this family memento. I love being the "keeper" of my family history.  Genealogy is what I LOVE to do.  I always say "If this paid better this is all I would do."
