Baled. This is one of my favorite drive by shots. When you are shooting photos while you are driving you can't look and focus you have to just point and click. This is exactly what I was hoping it would be. (: This is Friday, July 24th's photo.
Natural Pest Control With this beauty sitting in our tree for a couple of evenings the little critters seem to have disappeared. This is Monday, July 20th's photo.
This looks like trouble... We have had these pieces of yard art for a really long time. This year they didn't make it out into the yard. I keep seeing this creepy looking cat all the time and finally tonight I took a photo. I find it rather funny that the bird is sitting right at the cat's mouth. (: By the way, I did NOT stage this. They have been sitting like this for a month or more.
Rain Kissed This afternoon we had the ickiest rain. It was more like a mist only not a mist either. It was just icky. But this pretty lady was blooming.
Oh my gosh! I have the best Grandpa ever! The quality of this photo isn't the greatest but it sums up all the rest of the photos. Grandpa and Baby were playing with the garden hose. She had the best time. By the time they were done she was soaking wet but...
Yellow. The sunlight was shining on these beauties but it is super windy this evening so the shadows kept crossing them just as I would snap a picture. I finally gave up and just snapped away. This one has a bit of the sunlight and a bit of the shadows. I think it turned out rather lovely. (: For the past two Decembers I have created photo calendars of my photos for my family. This year my daughters and my husband have been telling what photos are "calendar worthy". This one gets my vote.
Lost in DNA... Or just lost? I love genealogy. A couple of months ago I had my Dad donate a bit of DNA to be tested for ancestry.com. Interesting results. With these results I have made contact with a 2nd cousin and a 3rd cousin. There are hundreds of matches. The challenging part is doing the detective work to find the common ancestor. Then a few weeks ago I had my hubby give a donation as well. His results were a bit surprising to me. I'm not sure why but they were surprising. The closest matches were 3rd cousins and only 3 of those. For the past 3 days I have done nothing but research these people trying to find a common ancestor. One was quick and easy because they had the Chapman surname on their tree. It was a great find for me because she was a lost soul on my tree. I couldn't find her in any records once she was old enough to be married. Doing the DNA research also m...
Alice in Wonderland? This is a pretty fun photo. I love it anyway. I love the colors. The off angle. My feet. The layers of flowers. The sunlight. Just overall a fun photo. ha!
I see you! Red squirrels aren't very common in our area. For the past couple of years we've had what seems to be a solo red squirrel. This year we have an entire family of them. They are so much fun to watch. This is Thursday, July 9th's photo.
Meet Flo! I'm a sucker for flamingos. My hubby and I had a date night in the country. Well, we went to Fleet Farm and had dinner at Culvers. That's pretty much the country, right? ha! Flo and I found each other in Fleet Farm and just couldn't resist inviting her to come live at our house. She just kept nodding her head so I took that as a definite yes! If I could afford it I would have many more flamingos in my backyard.
Grammy Squares These little things are extremely addictive. I made one just to try making one and now I have FIVE of them. Oy! I'm not sure what I'm doing with them but I'm sure I'll figure something out! (: And yes, I know they are Granny squares not Grammy squares but...
Just too cute! This little one wasn't afraid to come to the feeder when we were sitting on the deck. I couldn't decide which photo was cuter so posted both of them.
Sunbathing My Dad keeps telling us about the turtle who comes and sits in the sun on the tire on his boat lift but none of us have ever seen it. While getting packed to head home this beauty came to get a bit of sun. Glad for the great zoom I have on my camera but this shot was taken about half way down the dock. The camera clicked and it slipped into the water.
Star Spangled Banner My Dad, sister Tammy Jo and I sat on the deck at the lake and watched several fireworks displays. The next door neighbors had a some really awesome ones. The first time the flag was in my shot it was totally by accident. This one was on purpose.
Orange Moon The wild fires in Canada are giving Minnesota a very strange glow which has made the sun and moon look orange. Picture above shows the orange glow. The picture below I messed with my camera settings and this is what I got. I love both photos. This is Thursday, July 2nd's photo.
Layers of Art The neon lights reflected in the window are from the State Theater. Love how my photograph catches the announcement of the Student of the Quarter and she happens to be a digital photographer. (: This is Monday, June 29th's photo.
