Day 40, Year 3 (760)


May never find my way out...

Two straight days of digging through online genealogy records.  Through all of my digging I have been unable to find much on my 2x great grandmother, Reka.  I have my great grandmother's baptismal record which shows Reka's maiden name and I've stood at her grave.  There is nothing before or in between. I can't find a marriage or death record for her. I know she was born in Germany but have no idea when she immigrated.  If she came by herself or did her entire family come to America?

Yesterday I stumbled across a couple of records that now has me researching a woman who may be Reka's aunt.  Note I said "may".  I am purely driven on a very strong gut feeling.  The biggest problem is I have no clue how to prove this theory.  I think I need to make a trip to Wisconsin so I can look at actual records.  Hmmm...  

So I am now exhausted, frustrated and not sure I can find my way out of this mess.  I am hoping I am right because if I'm not, I've totally effed up my tree. ha!

Hippie Potions and Lotions

Fun day today.  The past several days have been spent getting things done before we leave for Florida.  My business is the most organized it has ever been.  This morning I cleared my custom order board and mailed out all pending orders.  Late this morning I headed for the kitchen and created some wo nderful lotions. The pretty peppermint jars contain "Peppermint Perfection", a luscious hand balm that has a heavenly peppermint scent. The "Green Stuff" is a boo-boo salve.  It works great on cuts, burns, very dry skin and it stops bug bites from itching. And the pretty lotion in the middle is "Mara's Magical Moisturizer" which I created for my granddaughter to help relieve some of her dry skin caused by eczema.  This is a new and improved version.  I am hoping this will work even better than the last batch. Not in this photo is the body wash I made.  Super rich and its wonderful smell is peppermint and sweet orange. The fun

The Witch's Hat... Stumbled across this quite by mistake today.  It took a little bit of four wheel driving to get up to the top of the hill due to MORE fresh snow overnight.  After a slippery walk up a bunch of steps and a snowy hill there was the most fabulous view of the beautiful city of Minneapolis.  This landmark is known as the "Witch's Hat".  This water tower was built in 1913 and sits in Prospect Park which is the highest natural spot in the city. With the lamp post in the foreground doesn't this remind you of Narnia -- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe?
