What we do for the sake of our art...

Today is Mother's Day 2014 and instead of sleeping in I decided I should get out of my warm bed and go out and take some pictures as the sun was coming up.  It rained last night and I have wanted to get pictures of dew or rain drenched grass, flowers, etc.

Above is the very first photo I took this morning while sitting on the very cold sidewalk.  I'm not sure I have a point that is actually in focus but I love it anyway.


Just a close up.  It shows a bit more detail of the rain drops and the sunlight is perfect.





This is the same bush from earlier in the week when there were only gray skies.  The color is so different with the morning sunlight.  And the texture is almost fuzzy, out of focus because of the moisture on the leaves.  And then there is all the spider webs.  (:





By now my tush is frozen and my feet are soaked but saw this as the sun started to cover the yard.  I took at least 10 pictures of this leaf until I had the light and effect I wanted.

Hippie Potions and Lotions

Fun day today.  The past several days have been spent getting things done before we leave for Florida.  My business is the most organized it has ever been.  This morning I cleared my custom order board and mailed out all pending orders.  Late this morning I headed for the kitchen and created some wo nderful lotions. The pretty peppermint jars contain "Peppermint Perfection", a luscious hand balm that has a heavenly peppermint scent. The "Green Stuff" is a boo-boo salve.  It works great on cuts, burns, very dry skin and it stops bug bites from itching. And the pretty lotion in the middle is "Mara's Magical Moisturizer" which I created for my granddaughter to help relieve some of her dry skin caused by eczema.  This is a new and improved version.  I am hoping this will work even better than the last batch. Not in this photo is the body wash I made.  Super rich and its wonderful smell is peppermint and sweet orange. The fun

Sister's Choice

This is today's creation.  I've wanted to make a Barn Quilt for a really long time.  This one is very simple with only two colors but still had its challenges.  (: But I am loving the finished creation.  Barn Quilt #2 is already in the design stages.  Just trying to figure out colors.   This quilt square is named "Sister's Choice". Now where do I hang this?  I think it might be perfect fence art.
